A special story behind this artwork
I created urban beach scape 'KEEP ON RUNNING II' commissioned by a particularly lovely couple from Belgium. They discovered my work through Werk aan de Muur, where an earlier version of this image is available as a print.
Instead of a print, they wanted an original painting on the wall. That is why they came to visit me in my studio to view the original artwork in person.
However, the original version is currently on the other side of the world, in Newark, USA, for an exhibition.
So I suggested recreating the work for them.
What made this commission special for me was not only getting to recreate one of my favorite paintings, but above all the connection with the couple. Their enthusiasm for my work, their trust in me, and their choice of an original painting over a reproduction made this a commission I carried out with great pleasure.
