"WHAT A WASTE" is a mixed-media artwork by db Waterman, primarily composed of a collage of bottles. The bottles in the collage were meticulously cut from advertising flyers, magazines, and coloured paper. Hundreds of these paper bottles were collected by db Waterman over several months. Each bottle was then carefully glued on top of another, creating the illusion of a towering plastic waste mountain. This layering technique, using six distinct layers of bottles, results in a semi-transparent effect, mirroring the look and feel of real plastic.

The creation of "WHAT A WASTE" was an enormous undertaking, requiring significant time and dedication. The process of gathering, cutting, and layering so many bottles onto the canvas was labour-intensive, highlighting the artist's commitment to bringing attention to the pervasive issue of plastic pollution. Through this intricate and thought-provoking piece, db Waterman not only showcases their artistic talent but also delivers a powerful environmental message that resonates deeply with viewers.
