STAND MY GROUND
STAND MY GROUND is an urban landscape constructed from layers of weathered plaster, rough textures, and damaged paint.
A woman stands in a landscape that balances between reality and imagination. Her presence forms the anchor point. She stands firm while her surroundings seem to decay.
In the background, a house by the water appears. It is a reminder of a place where you once felt at home. It is an image that leaves room for various interpretations.
The blue-green colors give the work a calm, almost dreamlike appearance, while the rust-colored accents refer to decay, time, and transience.
As in much of my work, this painting does not tell a literal story. I want the viewer to make their own connections between the woman, the desolate landscape, and the many small details hidden within the image. Scratches, transparent layers, textures, and paint fragments combine to form a visual diary in which there is always something new to discover.
