Abstract beach landscape “THE CHASE” is about boys chasing each other on the beach. It is a childhood memory of long, warm summers spent with friends.

The mixed media artwork is a layered interplay between the abstract sea and beach and the figurative monochrome boys.

The suggestive abstract beach is depicted as old weathered boat paint. It symbolises the decay and fading of our dreams and memories of summer holidays and friendships.

For me, this image is about pure childlike wonder; that total surrender to the moment and the boundless freedom of youth.

The boys in the work are icons of movement. I sought a balance in which the viewer can rediscover their own childlike wonder. It is a painting that allows us all to pause for a moment and reflect on the universal, timeless childlike wonder that we all carry within us.
