I'm inspired by weathered walls with posters, peeling paint and all kinds of things in dilapidation. I try to create something new, something beautiful with these elements. This particular artwork is part of the Collages series. These collages are built up with all kinds of pictures, photos and images that I have collected over the years. Some of the works are created by only arranging photographs in a certain way. Other collages are created with transferred images that are pulled loose or torn. Old and torn, outworn and weathered. Layer upon layer. First I paint a surface with watercolor or acrylic paint and edit it with stamp, paint splashes and scribble drawings. On top of that, the collage layers are put and sometimes pulled loose to. For an old and weathered effect. By layering a transparent effect is created such as only possible with watercolor paint. The first layers are visible through the collage layers. Most collages are decorated with acrylic paint, in the form of stamping or simply painted over. In addition, I often use a pen or pencil to draw on the artwork.
